Kara Raphael, MD, received her Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 2010, and then graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in 2014 with her medical degree. At Emory, she also completed her residency in Internal Medicine with a distinction in teaching and leadership (2017) before moving to New York to the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell. At Northwell, she was a Fellow and Chief Fellow in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2020) prior to completing her Advanced Endoscopy fellowship (2021) at North Shore University Hospital. She was recruited to stay at Northwell Health in the Division of Gastroenterology as the first female advanced endoscopist in the health system and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine. She currently leads the Pancreas Cyst Clinic and High Risk Pancreatic Cancer Screening Program at Northwell Health. Aside from patient care, Dr. Raphael participates in clinical research, mentors trainees, is involved in both undergraduate and continuing medical education, and is active in regional and national GI and endoscopic societies.
