Stacy Markell, PT, has over 20 years of experience as a physical therapist, and believesw in the importance of promoting wellness and prevention. With increasing productivity and documentation demands, as well as a genuine effort amongst practitioners to optimize patients’ experiences, the physician’s well-being is often unable to be prioritized. Over 6 years ago with Dr. Melissa Teitelman, Ms. Markell pioneered an individualized approach to ergonomics for the practicing gastroenterologist. This approach looks at the habitual movement patterns and postures of the practitioner and personal concerns of pain or fatigue during procedure execution to develop a comprehensive wellness program tailored to the practitioner. Ms. Markwell first partnered with ACG at the 2022 Annual Meeting to offer ergonomics screens to attendees.
