Megan A. Adams, MD, JD, MSc, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan (UM), Core Faculty of the UM Gastroenterology Clinical T32 Training Program, and a Research Investigator at the VA Ann Arbor Center for Clinical Management Research. Her research focuses on improving the quality and delivery of healthcare for patients with gastrointestinal conditions, by helping to define, measure, and implement high-value care across diverse practice settings. She is a past ACG Junior Faculty Development Award recipient (2018-2021) and is now an independently funded investigator. Her CDA-supported work focused on understanding the drivers of use of anesthesia-assisted sedation for routine GI endoscopy and defining appropriate use of AA. Other recent projects have assessed appropriate use of GI endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, tele-visit outcomes in GI/hepatology patients, and barriers to specialty care and transplant referral in patients with cirrhosis. Her research has been published in journals including JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and The American Journal of Gastroenterology.
