Rena H. Yadlapati, MD, MSHS, FACG, is Director of the Center for Esophageal Diseases and Professor at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Yadlapati completed her residency at UCLA and GI fellowship as well as a clinical and T32 research fellowship in esophageal physiology at the Northwestern University. She also holds a Master of Science in health services and outcomes research from Northwestern. As an esophagologist, Dr. Yadlapati cares for patients with GERD, achalasia, esophageal motor disorders, and eosinophilic esophagitis, and has expertise in interpretation of esophageal physiologic testing including high-resolution esophageal manometry, reflux monitoring, and functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP). Dr. Yadlapati is an active NIH funded researcher, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications including her role as the first author of the Chicago Classification version 4.0 of esophageal motor disorders and co-author of national guidelines for GERD, achalasia and esophageal physiologic testing. Dr. Yadlapati serves on the board of directors of the ACG Institute for Clinical Research and Education, and formerly served on the board of directors of the American Foregut Society.
