Maia Kayal, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and The Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. She graduated from New York University School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society. She completed her internal medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital and her fellowship training in gastroenterology at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Kayal has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, and the Rainin Foundation to study short and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with ulcerative colitis who undergo total proctocolectomy with ileal pouch anal anastomosis.
