Vikesh Singh, MD, MSc, is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine, the Director of the Pancreatitis Center, and the Medical Director of Pancreatic Islet Autotransplantation Program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Singh graduated from Brown University with a ScB in Applied Mathematics-Biology in 1995. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Israel from 1995-1996. He was a research fellow of the Four Schools Physician-Scientist Program in Internal Medicine from 1999-2000, when he participated in the initial experiments which laid the foundation for natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES), under the mentorship of Dr. Anthony Kalloo. He graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with an MD in 2001, and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2004. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship from the Brigham and Women's Hospital in 2008. He also completed an MSc in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2008. He completed a 2 year advanced endoscopy fellowship as an Instructor at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2010. Dr. Singh's research interests include evaluation and management of acute pancreatitis, diagnosis of early chronic pancreatitis, treatment of abdominal pain due to chronic pancreatitis and functional conditions, advanced endoscopic techniques as applied to inflammatory diseases of the pancreas, total pancreatectomy and islet autotransplantation, and cost-effectiveness analysis. Dr. Singh has authored and co-authored over 200 original scientific publications, reviews, and chapters. Dr. Singh has grant support from the NIH/NIDDK, Department of Defense, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Stason Pharmaceuticals. He has served on several as a consultant and advisory board member for biopharmaceutical companies and governmental organizations.
