Asma Khapra, MD, is a gastroenterologist in the second largest national GI group, GastroHealth, where she founded their Women in GI Network. Based in Northern Virginia, Dr. Khapra has been in clinical practice for 17 years specializing in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and women’s digestive health. She also served on the managing team of her practice for over a decade. In 2022, she cofounded a digital health startup, Olvi, focused on women’s digestive health. Dr. Khapra completed her GI Fellowship, at the Mount Sinai Hospital following a Residency at Cornell-New York Presbyterian and Internship at Duke University. Asma is a proud double graduate of the Johns Hopkins Undergraduate and Medical Schools. As an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UVA School of Medicine, she now mentors med students interested in pursuing Gastroenterology. Asma is an active member of both the AGA and ACG where she has served on multiple committees. She has keynoted various podcasts and webinars regarding championing Women in GI as well as promoting awareness of women's digestive health. She has served as a consultant to several digital health startups, and represents the interests of GI physicians and patients when lobbying on Capitol Hill. Asma is humbled to be included on Washingtonian magazine’s Best Doctor list since 2014. She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, two devoted cats, and two semi-devoted teenage sons.
