Shailja Shah, MD, MPH, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Diego, and Staff Gastroenterologist at VA San Diego. Dr. Shah’s work is broadly focused on primary and secondary prevention of gastric cancer, including the implementation of gastric cancer prevention and early detection programs among high-risk populations in the United States. Dr. Shah serves on many national GI committees and has authored national/international guidelines and clinical consensus statements on H. pylori management, gastric precancer surveillance, gastric cancer screening, and upper endoscopy quality metrics. She holds active funding from the National Cancer Institute and the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
