Jodie A. Barkin, MD, FACG, received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Miami, followed by his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami, Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Barkin went on to complete his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He subsequently completed an Advanced Endoscopy and Pancreatology fellowship at the University of Miami. He is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Director of Pancreatic and Small Bowel Diseases in the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Diseases at the University of Miami. He currently serves on the American College of Gastroenterology Educational Affairs Committee, Annual Meeting Planning Subcommittee, and Self-Assessment Test Subcommittee, and is the 2024 American College of Gastroenterology Annual Postgraduate Course Co-Director. He was honored with becoming a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. He has served as the Course Director of the Florida Gastroenterologic Society Annual Meeting Hands-On Endoscopy Course, and is Treasurer of the Florida Gastroenterologic Society. Dr. Barkin is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, a member of the Bockus International Society of Gastroenterology, and a member and former Chief of Iron Arrow Honor Society, which is the highest honor attained at the University of Miami. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the National Pancreas Foundation Center of Excellence at the University of Miami. He is the author of over 155 publications, abstracts, and book chapters, and serves as an Associate Editor for Pancreas and as a reviewer for multiple gastroenterology journals. His clinical and research interests include benign, pre-malignant, and malignant diseases of the pancreas, small bowel diseases and therapeutic endoscopy.
