Shivangi Kothari, MD, FACG, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of Endoscopy in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, University of Rochester Medical Center. She is an interventional endoscopist and the Co-director of the developmental endoscopy lab at the University of Rochester (DELUR). She completed her medical school from Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM hospital, Mumbai, India. She completed her residency and Gastroenterology fellowship from Seton Hall University, NJ, and then trained in advanced endoscopy from Stanford University. She has clinical expertise in endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP, esophageal endotherapy for Barrett’s esophagus, double-balloon enteroscopy, luminal stenting, endoscopic mucosal resection, and endoscopic submucosal dissections. Dr. Kothari's research interests include developing EUS FNA techniques, device development, pancreatic cyst evaluation, and pancreas cancer evaluation and surveillance of high-risk pancreas cancer patients. She has been the course director for multiple CME events and endoscopy workshops for physicians, fellows, and GI nurses. She has authored several publications and presented her research at various national and international meetings and is also an active member of multiple national gastroenterology committees, including past Chair of the ACG's Women in GI Committee. She currently serves as the ACG Governor for Northern New York.
